When the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 was introduced late last year, it immediately attracted a lot of buzz. Besides, it is the first Windows phone from Sony Ericsson running on Windows Mobile 6.5. The new XPERIA X2 comes less than a year after Sony Ericsson debuted the XPERIA X1.

Although the X2 still retains the relative bulk of the X1, the newer model features some slight changes. For instance, the prismatic navigational keys on the face side are now flat and smooth. The D-pad has also been replaced with an optical pad. At 3.2″, the OLED screen of the X2 is also larger than its predecessor’s. However, the screen is still of the resistive variety. This means users would have to use the stylus for some elements or press harder on the screen when navigating menus.

The XPERIA X2 comes with Windows 6.5 OS with redesigned ‘Panels’ interface. A new feature called SlideView allows quicker access to frequently used apps like contacts, messages and media. Initial reviews, however, have found the XPERIA X2′s Windows Mobile OS to be disappointingly sluggish. See Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 specs after the jump.
